Dawning College, established in November 2021, is the first academy founded by SUAT. Named "Shuguang" to commemorate the pioneering work of scientists like Li Guojie and Fan Jianping in developing the Shuguang high-performance computer and founding Dawning Information Industry Co., Ltd., the academy promotes the spirit of scientists and entrepreneurs. With the motto "Integrity and Courtesy, Truth-Seeking and Pragmatism, Broad Learning and Innovation, Serving the Nation through Science and Technology", the academy’s spirit, "How many times in life can one strive?" aligns with the ethos of Dawning Information Industry.

Yuangeng College, the second academy established under SUAT’s "Three Academies as One" talent cultivation model, is the first to carry forward the spirit of the Special Economic Zone. On November 15, 2022, during the opening of the 24th China Hi-Tech Fair and the "Science and China" academician lecture series, SUAT officially received authorization to use the name and portrait of Yuan Geng, a key figure in China’s reform and opening-up and a "Reform Pioneer", to establish Yuangeng College!

As the second academy in the Special Economic Zone spirit series, Pilot College is dedicated to promoting the exemplary deeds of outstanding entrepreneurs and role models who, over the past 40 years of Shenzhen’s reform and opening-up, have shouldered the responsibilities of their era and created miracles in urban development. It inspires contemporary students to dare to innovate, pioneer, and pursue excellence in Shenzhen’s new journey to build a pilot demonstration area for socialism with Chinese characteristics.
